Week 3 - Mutimedia Courseware Design Fundamentals

This week we learn & discuss about courseware design.firstly, about basic multimedia design.


4 primary aspects influence multimedia design:
  • content
  • technology
  • visual
  • economics
Technology & visual must be  balanced because
  • visual oriented coursewares are often light on content, difficult to update, and slow to display.
  • technology oriented coursewares can be unappealing and often exclude users who don't have the latest technology installed.

Therefore, we have to plan a courseware that:
  • well structured
  • easy to navigate
  • quick download / display time
  • simplicity
  • consistency
  • engagement
Three parts of multimedia courseware design

  • Interaction Design
  • Visual Design
Information Design
Information design is the skill & practice of preparing information so people can use it efficiency & effectiveness. where the data is complex or unstructured, a visual representation can express its meaning more clearly to the viewer.
